Speak!
Your words are free…
Speak up!
Your tongue is still your own…
Your body remains yours
ramrod, erect…
Speak out!
Your life is still your own….

“Hi! I’m Naureen, a passionate mixed media artist and a dedicated humanitarian. My art is inspired by the work i do as a humanitarian. I see the dark and lighter sides of life, hope in despair, voices of the voiceless, power of the powerless. Through painting, I share my experiences to inspire viewers.

The story
Nostalgia
This series employs a common yet deeply individual philosophy of going beyond the subject and into the spiritual. These paintings are not direct illustrations of a scene, a form, or an object but instead, philosophical interpretations of movements and times of the day. The characters themselves aren’t as significant as the notion of freedom and enlightenment embodied through their ritualistic whirling and spinning. To capture the dancers’ ephemeral state of meditative trance, the works in this series are executed quickly, without days and hours of studio work. Nostalgia speaks my soul’s silent language of creativity, mysticism, and wilderness with Hope!
Protest
Controversial yet realistic in its depiction of the subject. The series is a tribute to the protests held across the globe raising voices against injustice, discrimination, racism and inequality. My work does not represent any political or religious ideology but tends to only depict a simple principle of humanity and human rights through vibrant colors and brush strokes.
Promises
Mixed Media on cold presses watercolor paper Most recent works: My personal journey, a long road of constant struggle, self exploration to discover the inner self and worth in this space with a message of hope. I feel that I’m at a crossroads in life where good versus bad and right versus wrong become meaningless. Human bodies and living beings are no more significant than trees and concrete buildings. They all speak to me as reminders of certain rights denied to many and open up the doors towards happiness and hope.
Alone…
Quick captures of the most famous city in the world that’s normally full of people, left with only concrete and lights. Although the pandemic took away its life and left it with perfectly lit buildings, empty streets and shops, the city still has hope to have life again. Nature performs its daily course as usual with vibrant sunsets, fog and snow storms and bright sunny days….
Green Series- The Nature’s Call
This series uses bold expressive lines made by charcoal and pastels — leaves, eyes, trees and skylights — interpreted into fairly simple and comprehensible narratives with a felt tension between what is seen vs. what really exists. These paintings are vibrant, spontaneous and meaningfully provocative—directing viewers’ attention towards nature as the chaos of climate change draws closer. Green remains the dominant tone with bold strokes and lines.
Oblivion
My most controversial, yet most honest work is around depicting women’s silent stories—the inner storm behind a calm exterior, composed figures overwhelmed with social injustices and inequalities yet being portrayed as satisfied victims of traditions and norms. This might sound complicated but it is simple—a body without a soul and a human without needs and ‘wants’ are no more than weightless shadows. Accents of Arabic and Urdu calligraphy visually depict the voices that I grew up with.
